Dr. William Harvey, a seasoned power plant design engineer, specializes in renewable energy with a primary focus on geothermal projects. Committed to expanding global geothermal power generation and nurturing industry talent, he brings several decades of comprehensive experience across all phases of geothermal plant life. His expertise spans feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design, construction, commissioning, owner’s engineering, operating plant assessments, and due diligence/independent engineering assignments.

This mission is supported by a proven track record of success in collaborating with multidisciplinary, multicompany teams. The technical focus remains on the analysis and design of geothermal generation systems. Experience working across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania has led to the addition of over 1.2 GW of greenfield and expansion projects and operating plant improvements. This extensive background provides a comprehensive understanding of global geothermal technologies, markets, and best practices.

Human capacity building efforts encompass training with industrial clients and notable organizations such as the Iceland School of Energy, the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), Geothermal Rising, Costa Rica’s Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC), the International Finance Corporation, and the International Geothermal Association, among other organizations.

He writes and lectures extensively on geothermal and renewable energy topics and is a contributing author for the textbook Geothermal Power Generation: Developments and Innovation. Dr. Harvey is a guest professor at Reykjavik University. In 2019 he received the Geothermal Resources Council’s Ben Holt Award, “for his significant contribution to geothermal engineering and more importantly, sharing this knowledge and passion with his many students and fellow engineers.”

We use our blend of experience and objectivity to help:

  • Developers define viable new renewable energy projects, from concept through detailed design and commissioning, to expand their portfolios,
  • Owners execute upgrade opportunities for existing projects, so they can sustainably increase output and revenue,
  • Young Engineers define and rise along their career arcs, so they can join others in these productive endeavors, and
  • Prospective Engineering Students make wise decisions regarding their fields of study and initial choice of assignments.
